Sequoia’s 5th grade classes recently took a walking field trip to our local middle school, Albert Einstein, to see what is in store for our students.
The trip focused on the science curriculum they offer including life sciences, physical sciences, and robotics.
The students even had a chance to conduct two science experiments. The first, with Ms. Stowell dissolved aluminum (Al) in a solution of copper sulfate (CuSO4) and extracted the copper from the aluminum.
And in the second experiment with Mr. Holmes, the students extracted the DNA–that’s Deoxyribonucleic acid for those of you who didn’t go to Einstein–from a strawberry.
